Nathan’s sound, it’s like John Butler on pills, Michael Franti on mushrooms and The Umbilical Brothers on fire.”Cathy Gavronich, Rip-In Magazine, WA, Aus

"I was given a guitar at 14 by a Spanish guitar player and taught
myself Bob Marley, Beatles, U2 & Cat Stevens songs whilst hanging
out fishing with friends at the beach." At age 16, he moved to
Sydney to attend the Newton High School of Performing Arts.
Nathan was introduced to Yidaki/Didjeridoo in his early teens by
His aboriginal step-father , but began playing at age 17 when a
Pintjantjarra tribesman gave him his first didge. Naturally gifted, he
Got the complex circular breathing technique within ten days of
Starting.
As a multi-instrumentalist (sponsored by ColeClark Guitars & Slide-Didge), he does human beat-boxing (vocal drums), plays 12 string guitar like its some kind of funky sitar, 6 string guitar & lap-steel slide at the same time as the Slide-Didge (which is an innovative Trombone-like Didgeridoo made from timber and steel) and electronic drum kit with his feet. But it isn't just his obsession with instruments that has attracted so much attention to his show. It is his enormous energy that seems to infect everyone, when combined with his raunchy voice, with an added sense of Umbilical Brother’s style humour, that people are drawn to.
Kaye’s latest album, Lucky Man, is a record that is rich with heel-stompin' live blues 'n roots, organic funk-rock and infectious sing-a-long pop. It is a amalgamation of music that is as raw, raunchy and unrelenting as it is strikingly haunting and deeply touching.
Kaye’s album & performance are both a dirty, stompin' exploration of live energy, humour as well as emotional exorcism.
With songs penned from pivotal points in his life spanning years of trials & tribulations, Nathan shares some of his most exuberant moments with grit, power and passion as well as some of his darkest hours with tenderness, insight and brutal honesty.
"I am very impressed by Nathan as an artist and as a positive force. His guitar playing is great. He has the voice. Good range and tone, with the impression that it's about to say something worth listening to... Rock on."Andy Fraser, Musician, bass player from '70's band "FREE"
LIVE: If you were to blend JOHN BUTLER, THE TEA PARTY, MICHAEL FRANTI and, well, THE UMBILICAL BROTHERS all in one person, you’d get something that resembles a Nathan Kaye live performance…
